ISEAMI HOUSE FROM ROBLES ARCHITECTS

0

Robles Architects have sent us a recently completed project, the ISEAMI House in Playa Carate, Península de Osa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. The house is the first stage of the ISEAMI institute (Institute of sustainability, ecology, art, mind and investigation). The house is the main area of the institute, therefore, it’s design will serve as a multifunctional place in order to host activities as Investigation, meditation, training, Yoga and joy at the terrace located in the first level. At the same time, the Institute director will habit the house on the second level. This way, possible functions are maximized on the smallest possible area. (more…)

MAKE A COMICS OF YOUR IMAGES THROUGH PHOTOSHAKE

12

I have been busy this past weeks because of work and stuff so this post will just be a quick one.  My Architect Organization Chapter is finding other ideas on how to make the monthly newsletter fun.  We decided to include the PUGAD Marvalley.   It is a comic base pages that will showcase bloopers and behind the scene images of events and turn it into a something like a comic strip.   Well it is just a simple comic strips with chat boxes in them and even anyone can do it on Microsoft Word.

I was the one in charge of doing it and having made it in Photoshop, PowerPoint or Word is sometimes impossible because of the time constraints.  So, I decided to check out some android apps so that I can do it even on the road.  I tried several android apps for making a comics but I stick in with Photoshake.  It is easier to use.  It has great features.  You can do a lot of customization because of its templates.  It has choices for pages, for border, chat boxes, fonts, colors, adjustable image locations, and a lot more.  I am using the free version of course but the features suits all my needs.  The images on the left is the main screen of Photoshake.  I have already made 3 pages of Pugad Marvalley for 3 consecutive months. Below are some sample it. (more…)

MY SALUTE TO ENGINEERS AROUND THE WORLD

2

Happy Engineer Day, this is what I saw yesterday viewing their profile in Facebook. I was shock and I did not there exist one. So, I decided to search it up and to find out that every country celebrate’s Engineer’s Day in a different date and Philippines was not on the list of countries celebrating it.  The country that is celebrating Engineer Day yesterday is India and they are celebrating it in honor of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who was actually born on the same day in 1860. He had made several notable and big contributions to India especially on dams and reservoirs.

There are events in India to celebrate the Engineer Day and I do not here any here in the Philippines.  I never heard one yet being celebrated here not like how the United Architecture of the Philippines and other countries celebrate  The World Architecture Day simultaneously on the same date and this year that would be the first Monday of October, October 1.  Well, engineering is very big and it affects almost all of our lives whether knowingly or unknowingly.  I saw this video about what will happen to our lives without engineers, it is true so here is my salute to the engineers of the world. A GREAT HOUSE IN OBAMA

0

This is a house in Obama and when I first saw the facade of this house, the first thing that came out of my mind was the Cultural Center of the Philippines building.   Why? It is because of the illusion of a floating slab that is supported by columns carrying the entire slab above it.  This house was constructed in Obama City in Fukui, Japan.   I love open design and the use of courtyards and this house has certainly integrated it naturally even if it is located above ground.
